Why this blog?

I've always been a big fan of interior design and renovating. Growing up, I basically lived in a big house that was a renovation project, and as I got older I got more and more interested in renovation after building stuff like my own furniture and a lodge house.

Creating a style that express your personality, throughout colours, materials and decor is something that fascinates me. Working as a graphic designer, these are elements that stands close to my heart, and that I always appreciate and see the relevant point of. To be able to decide whether you're a white marble and brass kind of person, or an 60's inspired person whom loves teak and deep colours, is something that I find thrilling. What makes us into who we are when it comes to design? I know for a fact that I was a person who loved light wood, silver and concrete when I was younger (and I absolutely hated white marble), but today I love the feeling dark wood have, and I prefer brass and white marble as complements. I have never stopped loved the colour green though.

So why this blog? More than just that I have a thing for interior design and so on. Well, I've bought my first apartment, and it is in deeply need of an renovation. Getting into the apartment market in Stockholm deserves a blog post by its own, and the story of how I got this one might even deserve more than that, but this will at least be my photographic, and text based, journey on making a home.

And the name "stockholm-nest" then? Well, a favourite blog for many years has been "Manhattan Nest". I just love it to the bones. So this is kind of a tribute to Daniel Kanter and his oh so many renovation projects. He's just brilliant. If you haven't checked out his blog yet, you must do so here.

Also, if you want to follow me on Instagram, you'll find me under @stockholmnest.
